Opulent gowns, slow motion running, enchanted gardens and the haunting beats of Depeche Mode – Christian Dior’s breathtaking new film for their Fall 2012 Couture collection has me in a very rare state of IHaveNoWords.
Clearly I’m exaggerating—because I always manage to find words—but my plunging state of euphoria should no less be dismissed. Photographer/Director duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin apparently lensed the clip, which sees Supermodels Daria Strokous, Melissa Stasiuk and Xiao Wen Ju rhythmically float through the Palace of Versailles. We, the admissible viewer, are invited through a dreamy labyrinth of halls and mirrors, luxurious salons and captivating gardens while doves and couture flash across the screen like acid apparitions. It’s lavish, it’s campy and it’s totally Dior. Yet another achievement from my all-time favorite Fashion House.
If you’re sitting in your office and don’t have time to witness 3 ½ minutes of Not Safe for Work magic–-fear not–-for the Dior gods have bestowed a 60-sec. CliffsNotes version seen here. Although, I strongly advise experiencing the full feature.
